Frequently asked questions

To successfully send newsletters online, you will need professional newsletter sending software. rapidmail not only makes it easy to create and send your first newsletter with intuitive planning and optimisation features, but also ensures top deliverability – above the industry average – so your newsletters reliably land in your recipients' inboxes.

In contrast to offline advertising, online newsletters can reach your recipients anytime and anywhere. Online sending also saves time, resources, and costs compared to print advertising, and can be seamlessly integrated with other digital channels like online shops, blogs, social media profiles, and your website. With the help of newsletter software, you can also evaluate the performance of your campaigns easily.

A newsletter mailing programme is essential for sending high-performance newsletters. Email providers like Gmail or Outlook do not offer you the necessary functions to plan and send newsletters flexibly.

rapidmail helps with convenient scheduling, automated follow-ups, industry-leading deliverability, A/B testing, subject line scoring and spam checks before sending. You can also segment recipients, choose different sender addresses, and set up DKIM keys and SPF records. These are all features only a professional tool can offer.

DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) is an authentication protocol that ensures the ‘authenticity’ of the sender and content of the newsletter. The validation process therefore helps you to maximise the deliverability of the newsletters you send out. To use the DKIM procedure, create a public DKIM key for your sender domain in your rapidmail account. You then store this in the DNS (Domain Name System) at your web host (e.g. united domains, strato, one.com or 1&1).

Another method for sending newsletters securely is SPF authentication. SPF (Sender Policy Framework) is designed to prevent the sender address of a newsletter from being spoofed. To ensure that your newsletters are reliably delivered to your contacts' inboxes and are not blocked by spam filters, you should copy the SPF entry from your rapidmail account and add it to your domain’s DNS (Domain Name System) settings via your hosting provider.

In an A/B test, two versions of your newsletter are sent to two test groups from your mailing list to determine which version performs better. You can test different sender profiles and subject lines.

During the test phase (which you define), the version with the higher open and click rate is determined. After that, the winning version can be sent to the rest of your contacts – either manually or automatically after the test period ends.
